According to the Child and Family Institute, during the phase known as the “sensitive period for learning”, which takes place in the early years, children will acquire a better brain development provided they have been exposed to the right natural stimuli: visual, tactile, auditory, kinaesthetic, spatial and emotional. This will prevent future negative consequences in their cognitive and emotional development. From the very beginning, the brain is ready to learn and absorb all the external stimuli it is exposed to. Right after birth, babies are ready to start learning their mother tongue but also, the correct exposure to different languages will enable them to develop strategies to differentiate them and eventually be able to use them independently. Learning a second or even a third language in the early years has clear benefits for the acquisition of further skills.
